I have been a bit worried about this one. I loved the book Doctor Sleep as I said in my review but wasn’t sure how you can do a movie without re-doing the original Stanley Kubrick classic to more closely fit the events of Stephen King’s novel. It looks like director Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Occulus) has decided the best way is to re-create the iconic film and re-set it for flashbacks scenes here. I’m happy with that approach and based only on this trailer it seems to be paying off in spectacular fashion.
Doctor Sleep releases November 8. It looks like between this and IT: Chapter Two it’s going to another strong season for Stephen King horror adaptations. I can’t wait.
If you haven’t seen it the aforementioned trailer for IT: Chapter Two is also moody and very scary.
